More Options with Horizon Yacht Charters

Although Hurricane Ivan hit Grenada hard, the ample warning of its approach enabled Horizon Yacht Charters to effectively hurricanize its charter fleet and base.

"We undertook all necessary precautions to ensure that the charter fleet was securely hurricanized and thankfully, this preparation meant that the majority of our fleet survived the battering that affected the island," said James Pascall, director of Horizon Yacht Charters (Grenada).

Whilst working towards the full recovery of their base at True Blue Bay Marina, which was damaged during the passage of Ivan, Horizon Yacht Charters have opened a satellite base in Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou. This new base will provide service through the end of the 2005 season.

“We are offering clients the option of starting their Grenadines sail from the picturesque sister island of Carriacou. This is just a two-hour sail from Union Island, which is the gateway to the Grenadines but we will also continue to offer charter starts and finishes at our primary base in True Blue Bay Resort & Marina in Grenada," continued James.

Flights are available between Grenada and Carriacou and from St. Vincent and Barbados into Carriacou on local airlines. In addition, Osprey Ferry Lines will be running a daily round trip ferry service between Grenada and Carriacou, departing from Grenada at 9.00a.m. and from Carriacou at 3.30p.m.

Horizon Yacht Charters has a fleet of 36 yachts in the BVI, 11 yachts in the Grenadines and 10 yachts in the recently opened Antigua & Barbuda base. Horizon is the Caribbean dealer for Bavaria Yachts and approved agent for Fountaine Pajot catamarans.
